Which one, Plasma or LCD tv?

Justin T asked:

I’m wanting to purchase a new t.v. I was wanting a plasma t.v, as I’ve heard what a great picture they have. But, then I started doing a little research, and read about how they don’t last very long. Then I went to wanting a lcd t.v,thinking that would be the best way to go …and thinking that it would beable to keep up with a large family , who watches t.v at various times…but now that I’m reading reviews on them, its the same thing…people saying that they don’t last very long , how they lose their picture, or how they have sound but no picture after a few months of owning the lcd t.v?So if people have this many problems out of these t.v’s then why,and how have they became so popular? What’s the best t.v to go with, plasma or lcd? Also, which is the best brand with the best rep?I don’t want to spend hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars on a television that’s not going to be any good after just a few months? So any suggestions would be great.

ms_md92587 asked:

I was thinking about buying a new TV. I’m not sure if I should get a plasma or LCD? What brand should I buy, Samsung, Sony or something else? I’m not to good at picking out good products, I brought a Haier and it broke without any reason and the company won’t fix it. What has the best reviews and whats not gonna break?

Plasma or DLP Projection?

rorybellows asked:

I just moved into a bigger place, and my 27″ tube television seems too small from where it is in the room. So I have decided to upgrade. I have been looking, and I plan on purchasing a new TV 46 inches or up. I have seen fairly decent reviews for a Samsung 51 inch DLP online, for about $1000.00. I plan on spending no more than $1500.00, which looks like that would get me a decent plasma TV. I understand a Plasma is bad on power usage, but is a DLp any different? I am not too concerned about the drop off in quality on the DLP? I usually sit right in front of the TV and I do not have large gatherings where people may have a bad view if they are at an angle. I do not plan on mounting my TV on the wall, a even though it seems as though projection televisions are on the way out, it seems like the best bet for me right now. Any good reason why I should get a flat panel plasma instead?

46in 1080p LCD or 50in 720p PLASMA?

billdjordan asked:

Hello everyone. Happy holidays.

Here is my dilema. I have spent hours researching tv’s at stores as well as reading reviews online. I think I have narrowed my choices down to 2. It is between an Samsung 1080p 46in LCD tv and a Samsung 720p 50in PLASMA tv.

I cannot decide. I have seen both. Primarily, I will be using the set with my HD programming from Directv as well as with my Blue-Ray and XBox 360. I will be mounting it on the wall. I think the 50in will look better (plus I hear PLASMA is better when viewing sports), but I am concerned that the 46 in will perform better, and look better (since it is 1080p).

If it helps, the 50in 720p PLASMA set has a 15000:1 contrast ratio and the 46in LCD set has a 10000:1 contrast ratio. Do these numbers make a big difference?

I figured I would come here for honest opinions, since I know the salespeople at the stores work on commission.

Your thoughts are appreciated. Which should I go with and why?

I’m looking at buying a 52″ plus rear projection LCD/DLP tv. I need some reviews that you have, pros and cons.

Bald E asked:

I just want to know if any one has had problems with different brands and the pros and cons of a rear projection over a LCD or plasma.
